Sometimes we need to transfer data from one hard drive to another, and that can be done by simply copying, and then waiting while the process runs and runs.
Other times we need more than that – we need a perfect copy of the hard drive, bit for bit. A clone in the same sense that a cloned sheep has the identical DNA of the original sheep. This would give us a bootable drive, where a copy would not.
