On cats and computers

Quantum computing uses quantum states to allow data processing to occur exponentially faster than current sequential processing.

Quantum states of matter – allowing the famous “Schrodinger’s cat” to be both alive and dead at the same time – are critical in the process. Until now we could not control quantum states, but with that capability quantum computing moves from the theoretical realm into the “sometime soon” realm.
