Better building, lower heating

29 08 2008

It is probably a twist on the classic “pay me now or pay me later” statement, but this guy ponied up his front money and is now reaping the benefits. He worked with an environmental designer/architect when building his house in Upstate New York, and now pays $2.50/day to heat his 4000 square foot home. (That’s $.25/square foot to heat it for the year – pretty impressive!)

More of his tricks, who he worked with, and the results, can be found in this article.

I am not very handy around the house with do-it-yourself type of projects and construction and so forth, so I am constantly calling professionals to come to the house and fix this or that. It is getting kind of expensive, and in these tough economic times I need to start learning how to do some of this stuff.
