I first read this in the paper version of Reader’s Digest, and found it a particularly powerful story. Greg Gadson, a West Point graduate, lost both legs in Iraq. A classmate, Mike Sullivan, was coach of the NY Giants, and went to visit Greg at Walter Reed and was blown away by Greg’s attitude.

When the Giants went to play the Redskins in Washington, Mike sent some tickets to Greg, and asked him to talk to the team before the game. That was the turning point in the Giant’s season, and they went on to win the Super Bowl.

This just skims the surface of the story. I really recommend you read the whole story here; it’s seriously good.

The story would have been better if he had talked to the Redskins.
